SKINCARE TIPS FOR EVERYONE:

SPF

This is the first one on my list because it is SO IMPORTANT. It’s such an easy step to take to prevent skin cancer/sun damage. I’m linking my favorite daily spf here.

Know your skin type

Are you dry? Oily? Combo? Do you have texture? Rosacea? Acne? What kind of acne do you have? Blackheads? Hormonal? Do you have clogged pores? Puffy under eyes? Wrinkles? These are all questions you need to ask yourself. You need to know your skin type and what issues you have to be able to build a skincare routine.

Listen to your skin

This is SO SO IMPORTANT, especially when introducing new products to your routine. If your skin is becoming irritated, LISTEN. I can’t tell you how many times a product has caused irritation and I had to stop using immediately. If your skin is happy and thriving, LISTEN and keep doing what you’re doing.

Your skin can (and will) change

This goes with the last tip, but your skin is ever evolving. The products that worked for you last year, may not work for you this year.

Don’t wear makeup if you don’t have to

Give your skin a break every now and then! Let your skin breathe.

Everyone’s skin is different

What works for me may not work for you! Don’t feel pressured to love something your best friend or favorite blogger loves. Also, don’t get upset if something works for them that doesn’t work for you.

Don’t overload on products

I made this mistake in the past. I had a huge, 10+ product routine before (crazy I know). I didn’t know which products were actually working and which products weren’t. Also, overloading on products makes it difficult to know which product is causing irritation.

Spot product placement

This is something that most people don’t listen to, but I swear by it! For example, I struggle with hormonal acne only on my chin, so I only put my acne products on my chin.

DON’T FORGET YOUR NECK

I will say it again, DON’T FORGET YOUR NECK. Think of your neck as a part of your face. All of the products you put on your face should be going on your neck too.

Take off your makeup EVERY SINGLE NIGHT

Don’t buy into “I’m too tired”. Taking off your makeup is so so so important. Makeup is creating a barrier over your skin and not allowing it to breathe. Also, not removing your makeup means you are not doing your skincare routine… NOT GOOD!

Start small

Starting a skincare routine can be overwhelming. There are so many products out there, so where do you begin? I recommend starting with the following three products: SPF, moisturizer, and pick an area you struggle with for the third product. For example, If you struggle with your under eyes, get an eye cream. If you struggle with texture, get a serum. Then you can build from there!

Utilize samples

This is a tip a lot of people don’t know. Did you know stores like Sephora offer FREE product samples? This gives you the opportunity to try before you buy. I utilized this A LOT when I first started my routine!

I hope you enjoyed these tips!! 🙂
