We aren’t even two month into 2020, and I have already grown so much closer to God than I was last year. I will talk more about my faith journey in another post, but for now all I will say is it hasn’t been easy. Just like any relationship, a relationship with God takes WORK. Not only work, but HARD WORK! You have to wake up everyday and make choices to improve your relationship.
Don’t think I’m on my high horse… it took me years to realize this. I always thought that if I just believed in Him, then we would have a great relationship. I had no idea how deep our relationship would grow when I started spending time with Him daily. I still struggle every day to grow my relationship with God. However, I am about to share 5 things that have been a game changer in developing my faith.
Community
This isn’t something I can link for you, and it’s not something I can find for you. You have to find where you belong. Community comes in many shapes and forms: church, small group, bible study, friendships, etc. I recommend finding people in similar walks of life as you. For example, if you are a single, young adult, I wouldn’t recommend joining a group with married adults.
Bible
This bible has been a great addition to my faith journey. I love it because it has devotionals and prompts throughout. I feel like this helps me be more intentional when reading my bible. Another great feature is that it has related/recommended verses in other books. This allows me to get the full picture.
Prayerful Planner

I set a goal in 2020 to spend at least 5 minutes a day with God, and this planner has been a game changer for me. I love this because it combines faith and organization. Each day has a new verse, a section for prayer, and a gratitude section. These only name a few things I love about this planner! It also has a prayer request page, which I use all the time.

Journal
I never really journaled until I joined my bible study, but now I can’t get enough. What’s special about this journal is that each page has a bible verse, similar to the Prayerful Planner. It also has a space for the date! I also love how this journal looks. First of all, it has one of my favorite verses on the front. The faux leather also makes it look so sleek. This comes in many other colors/verses too.
Weekly Devotional

This devotional is the newest additional to my prayer routine. My friend, Jamie, and I wanted to start a more intimate group. I found this devotional online and thought it would be perfect for our small group. First, it offers 52 weeks of prayers and devotionals. Each week has a scripture and reflection. The reflection includes questions and prompts to make your scripture reflection more thought-provoking. Additionally, each week offers the following sections:
– Teach me
– Guide me
– Things on my heart
– Highlights
– Prayer requests
This has been extremely helpful in guiding our discussions each week. If you are wanting to start a small group, or even begin doing a devotional on your own, I can’t recommend this enough.
Let me know in the comments what helps you in growing your faith!

this sounds weird but i search and read other scriptures too… like the Qur’an… i have completed the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation last year and it was really a struggle and self discipline.. now again I’m reading Gospel along side Qur’an.. It’s really amazing to know similar grounds and understand differences.. I also watch religious lectures and debates.. This has improved my Tolerance in terms of my faith along others’ faith..
That’s such an incredible idea! I’m so interested in other religions too. I love how you’re educating yourself and trying to better understand!
